To whomever it may concern.. letter 2- To the Last Person I Forgave
An Open Letter to the Last Person I Forgave
Is forgiveness actually about the other person—or about releasing ourselves from psychological attachment to an event?
— Letters of compassion
To,
The last person I forgave,
Hello there!
I hope you’re doing well. And I am glad about what happened. Doesn’t really matter who was less wrong. Maybe we were supposed to do this. I was hurt. Maybe by what you did, or maybe because I let you do it. So, as I said, it doesn’t really matter who was less wrong.
I forgave you to relieve you of guilt, if you felt any, and, if not, for myself to have moments of mental peace. I forgave you, as that’s what humans should do. I have nothing but goodwill for you from my heart, as I do have it for other human beings.
I might have changed my behaviour towards you now, whether you deserve it or not; I do. I deserve to change in a way that keeps me mentally in place.
It doesn’t mean I radiate hate towards you; it is just that I am not allowing myself to get hurt again. For the aims I keep, I have to have a lot of positivity, esteem, and support. That’s it.
I have forgiven you.
What it doesn’t mean: that I will be the same version with you. I will act as if nothing happened. Undisturbed proximity.
No, man!
I am human; these things have to change.
And about what it means—you are no more beholden by any of my grudges. And that we both are wonderful humans, so no hard feelings.
We are like parallel lines.
And that’s good.
Alright, that’s it.
For those who are reading this letter—forgive, guys! Forgive sophistically. For them, yes, but more for yourself.
You know your values, your boundaries, your standards, what you deserve and what you don’t; that’s fine.
Forgive for ultimate peace. And keep going at things your way.
And remind yourself that—yes, there might be hard feelings for them initially because you are absolutely human. But what will make you a better one?
It’s the deep understanding of forgiving and embracing it heartfully.
Keep going towards becoming an absolute human!
Yours truly,
